What soil do I need for this plant?Soil depends on where you are planting. As a general rule, if you are container gardening, use potting soil. Potting soil is made up of materials to manage moisture and drainage and even has added fertilizers. If you are planting directly in the ground (flower beds, vegetable gardens, etc.), use top soil. We also offer seed starting medium and succulent soil.

How do I know if this plant needs sun or shade?Not every plant thrives in full sun. Some plants require less sun exposure. Please ask an employee and/or refer to the plant’s ID tag for more information. Also, we have a lineup of hanging baskets and patio pots that are specifically tagged “shade”.

How frequently should I water?Not all plants have the same watering needs! To find out how much water your new plant will need, please ask a staff member at the time of purchase or check the plant ID tag for watering tips. NOTE: When planting trees, shrubs and perennials, we recommend soaking the hole before planting.

What is the difference between a Determinate and Indeterminate tomato variety?Tomato plants come in different varieties with different sizes and growth habits. These varieties are commonly called determinate and indeterminate. Here's a quick reference for how these two types grow: Determinate = Produces one large harvest, little staking needed, “bush” growth habit Indeterminate = Produces all season until first frost, needs staking, “vine” growth habit
